Dreamy U.S. Yachting Destinations

February 24, 2017 Published by

Cruising, sailing and yachting in the U.S. is a growing trend. The west and east coast of the nation offer relaxed seas, good eats and incredible views. There’s no need to go international for a taste of the best of yachting.

Myrtle Beach

If Myrtle Beach was called a water lovers paradise, we wouldn’t argue. South Carolina can offer yachters scuba diving, sailing, swimming, fishing and dining activities that rival those of some of the largest seaside countries in the U.S.

Visit Pawley’s Island

Our yacht vacation experts recommend you travel to Pawley’s Island, which is located about 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach. The island has a lot of old Florida history and is the ideal place to stop for some dessert to break up a hot day.

Go Scuba Diving

Boasting more than 60 miles of waterways, Myrtle Beach has something to offer those who have dived before as well as those who are doing it for the first time. The Sherman is a boat wreck in the Little River Inlet. It makes for a great afternoon activity.

Los Angeles

California is an ideal location for private yacht vacations. The Pacific Ocean offers the best in luxury with some of the most iconic views in the country. Try starting at San Francisco and working your way down the coast. The view from the ocean is as pretty as the view from the Pacific Coast Highway (we promise).

Visit Catalina Island

Catalina Island has two boat harbors and also offers boat camping. The boat camping spots go quick so we encourage you to make reservations. Visitors to this channel island enjoy wildlife, unique dive sites and the lifestyle of the resort town, which as you can imagine is all about relaxation.

Whale Watching

Whale watching season in Los Angeles is from December to March, although sometimes you can see blue whales in the summer time. If you’ve never seen the whales as they migrate south (or north, depending on the time of year), it definitely needs a place on your bucket list.

Key West

Key West is a charming seaside city. Everything about the Florida Keys, and Key West in particular, is tropical. You would be hard pressed to find winter jackets and closed toed shoes in this part of Florida. The ocean, sunshine and salty breeze are simply a way of life, which makes it an ideal vacation destination for boaters.

Visit Dry Tortugas National Park

It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere, but Dry Tortugas National Park is the ideal place to spend a day at sea. An island in the Gulf of Mexico, the park is only accessible by boat and is comprised of seven islands. Besides enjoying the ride to the islands, visitors can enjoy lounging on the beach and diving popular shipwrecks.

Fishing

The Florida Keys has been referred to as one of the top fishing destinations in the world. You can catch snapper and grouper not far from shore or ride to the Florida Straits for some serious game.
