Bahamas Yacht Charter
Crystal-clear aquamarine waters, world-class fishing and spectacular dive spots make the Bahamas a perfect playground for yacht charter vacations. This friendly country comprised of sandy, palm-fringed island chains offers several different routes for yachts to follow, each filled with different adventures and delights for your vacation.
The northern Abaco Islands are rich with the cultural flavor of former British colonial life. This archipelago forms a natural, protected channel ideal for sailing and island-hopping. The middle Bahamas are home to casinos, nightclubs and restaurants, offering more cosmopolitan pastimes. The lower Bahamas, beginning with the Exumas, remain a peaceful natural retreat.
Nassau, the capital, is also the best-known port in the country, and it is where many charter vacations begin and end. Several top marinas, including the megayacht basin at the famous Atlantis resort, are within easy driving or tender distance from the international airport. If you wish to begin or end your vacation with a few days on land, water slides, gambling and gourmet restaurants are all available here. Or you can step onto your yacht and leave civilization in your wake as you cruise south to the Exumas.
James Bond and Swimming Pigs
This archipelago is on a shallow bank with depths that allow for yachts but exclude cruise ships. The islands are pristine and quiet, and many charter yachts have secluded anchorages all to themselves. It’s impossible to take your eyes off the clear waters, which offer some of the world’s best snorkeling and scuba diving, especially in Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. Its colorful reefs are alive with tropical fish. You can visit Thunderball Grotto, where the James Bond movie was filmed, and snorkel through the cave in which Sean Connery’s 007 hid until he was airlifted to safety.
Other Exumas highlights include Norman’s Cay, a former drug lord’s lair, and Big Major, home to swimming pigs. Longer itineraries continue on to Great Exuma, where you can play a round of golf on a course designed by Greg Norman overlooking the emerald sea.

Here’s a hot tip FROM ONE OF OUR EXPERTS ABOUT YOUR BAHAMAS YACHT CHARTER:
Your charter chef will be sure to have scraps on hand for your trip to Big Major’s Spot. The family of Pigs that lives on this island have grown so accustomed to people that they will swim right up to your yacht’s tender in hopes of a treat. They aren’t too finicky and are happy with most morsels you offer. Swim ashore and share the sand and sun with these interesting characters. Hand feeding is fine, but just like with other animals, keep a flat palm for safety!
